Thanks blackroc - I've got a friend who's keen on BMW's and has a red '97 3 series that's near enough the same colour as the one I'm looking at (i.e.
Paint.net fade install#
As all the levellers, washers, etc.are in place do I just install some bulbs/ballasts? the car only has Xenon dipped beam (same as my current clio 182) but I want to equip bi-xenon. Regular wash/polish/wax will of course be on the cards, unless this can cause quicker deterioration? We do have a lot of cloud cover in the UK and US owners are reporting mixed results with fading, unfortunately I won't be able to park it out of the sun at all and it will catch the early-afternoon intense sun in summer. It looks like the car has been waxed by the garage that took it in (or it's past owner) due to white residue in places, but BMW haven't polished it up yet (only came in on Wed) so I'm not sure how good the red will go.Īny experience on this? I plan to keep the car at least 3-5yrs so I don't want it to fade or worse become two-tone before its 8-10yrs old. This particular one is a 56 plate and has been abroad (has a GB sticker) and the roof appears a slightly different colour to the body, I suspect it's spent time in a hot country as the white print on the control stalks has gone a bit yellow too.

We've had red cars before and they've faded a bit - albeit they were Vauxhalls - but it's clear that fading red may be a common problem on all cars. But I'm wondering if anyone has experience with Japan Red and fading?

After seeing it I think the Japan Red colour looks brighter and more stylish than the blue so I do prefer it. My only concern is it's red, I want a car in le mans blue, red or white and this one came up at a good price and relatively local. I'm looking at buying a particular 130i, I'm close to handing over the payment and taking the car away (approved used). I've posted here before trying to choose between a 130i and 120d, finally let me heart decide and gone for the 130i!
